God’s plan for Gospel advance is through the local church.
In one sense, God is the great church planter.
In Matthew 16:18, Jesus says, “…On this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overpower it.” Churches centered on the truth of God’s Word, on Christ, and on the Gospel will endure. It is through the local church that we can best participate in the Great Commission—the normal way God means for us to “go,” “make disciples,” “baptize” and “teach.” The church is not a human idea; it is God’s idea and God’s work.
We are thankful that our sending church, Capitol Hill Baptist Church, is faithfully and generously committed to this work. We pray we will also raise up pastors and church planters, and partner with like-minded churches and networks. Below are some of our dear partners.
I am happy to commend James Choi and New Covenant Baptist Church, a church we have been praying and working to establish in southern Montgomery County in 2020. James has been an elder at our church for three years, as well as a pastoral intern, a Sunday school teacher, and a friend. James shows natural leadership abilities, skills in teaching, knowledge of Scripture and love for people. He and Jeri have a good marriage. The group of brothers and sisters starting this work with James have also been faithful members of our church, whom we happily commend and support. We are excited to see how the Lord will use NCBC to draw many to Christ and to be a display of God’s glory as they work to proclaim Christ’s promises to make disciples of all nations in that part of Maryland.
