Our Children

Our Children’s Ministry exists to partner with parents by lovingly caring for children and faithfully teaching God’s Word each Sunday. Through every lesson, song, and conversation, we want children to grow in their knowledge of God and the good news of Jesus Christ.

Every Sunday Morning

We serve families with young children.

Ages 18M through 2

Nursery

Supervised play from the start of the service until the end of service. We provide a caring environment where little ones are loved and cared for while parents participate in the worship service.

Ages 3 to 4

Pre-K

Supervised play from the start of the service until the end of service. Children enjoy supervised play while beginning to learn the grand story of Scripture through Bible lessons, songs, prayer, and age-appropriate activities using The Biggest Story Curriculum.

K through 4th grade

Elementary School

Children worship with the congregation during the first portion of the service before being dismissed for Children’s Ministry. Through Bible story time, prayer, music/dancing and activities, they learn how every part of the Bible points to God’s plan of redemption through Jesus Christ.

The Family Room

A space is available for parents with infants or young children who may need a break during the service—a live stream of the service plays throughout the morning, so you can still hear the Word preached.

What to Expect

Safe hand-off

Children are dismissed only to the parent or guardian with the matching security label. To help our volunteers clean and prepare classrooms, we encourage families to pick up children immediately after the service concludes (around 12 pm).

Teaching

Teaching truth in a safe, joyful environment.

Every lesson is designed to help children see that the Bible tells one unified story — God’s plan to redeem sinners through His Son, Jesus Christ. Using The Biggest Story Curriculum by Kevin DeYoung, we teach children the whole counsel of God in an engaging, age-appropriate way through Bible story time, discussion, prayer, and singing/dancing.

In the Classroom

Care, order, and safety every Sunday.

Orderly Environment

An atmosphere that is joyful and orderly.

We believe children learn best in an atmosphere that is both joyful and orderly. Our volunteers encourage attentiveness, kindness, and respect as children hear God’s Word together. Children are encouraged to:

  • Listen attentively during Bible story time
  • Raise hands before speaking
  • Stay in seat during the lesson
  • Use kind words and gentle hands
  • Use inside voice

We know children are still learning, so our volunteers guide them with patience and encouragement.

A Note About Our Classrooms

Prepared each week.

Every Sunday, our volunteers transform local high school classrooms into spaces where children can learn, play, and hear God’s Word. For our youngest children, we prepare each room with mats, toys, and age-appropriate materials, keeping the environment as safe and welcoming as possible.

Because we gather in a school rather than our own building, our classrooms may look a little different than a permanent church building. We’re thankful for our church family’s flexibility as we pray and trust the Lord to provide a permanent home.

Safety & Security

We take safety seriously.

We take the safety of children in our care very seriously. Our ministry includes:

  • Secure check-in and matching parent labels
  • Volunteers who monitor halls and classrooms
  • Two approved volunteers in every classroom
  • Clearly defined child protection policies
  • Background-checked children’s ministry volunteers
